This very narrow site was purchased by our wonderful clients during the COVID lockdown. Wedged between two historic homes, the block’s width created significant design challenges for any new house. Strict building regulations and height restrictions meant the allowable building envelope was even tighter than that of a typical duplex unit, as height v setback controls applied to both sides to ensure our proposal considered the neighbouring properties on either side.
These constraints made the clients’ aspiration for a generously sized family home an ambitious brief.
Challenge accepted!
We embraced the brief through thoughtful and creative design, delivering a four-bedroom family residence that fulfils their needs and stands proudly within the traditional streetscape while offering a distinctly modern interpretation compared to its historic neighbours.
