Developing in a historic inner-city street comes with its own set of challenges. With neighbours in such close proximity, and a streetscape that demands careful consideration, every design decision carries weight. Although the local council encouraged a more contemporary façade, we chose a traditional architectural approach, believing it would sit more comfortably within the existing character of the neighbourhood.
We had always intended to build two homes in a duplex, side-by-side arrangement; the challenge lay in shaping them appropriately for the site and the streetscape.
